Waldoboro — Waldoboro voters will be choosing between four candidates for two three-year terms on the Select Board at the annual town election June 8.

Russell Brazier Jr., Seth Hall, Kevin Court, William Pratt and Abden Simmons are vying for the two positions.

Simmons is the incumbent and current chair of the board.

Katherine Winchenbach is the current board member not seeking reelection.

Also to be decided are two three-year positions on the Regional School Unit 40 Board of Directors.

Incumbent Sandra O’Farrell is running for reelection to the board, as well as Karen Wellman and Jeanette Wheeler.

Gordon Webster is running unopposed for Utility District Board of Trustees.

A second position on this board is open to write-in candidates.

Write-in candidates are also open for three positions on the budget committee.

In addition to the candidate positions, voters will also be deciding on the municipal budget and ordinance articles.

The Shellfish Management Ordinance article is an amendment to change the residency requirements for commercial shellfish harvesting licenses from the current three months to one year.

Two warrant articles deal with the former A.D. Gray property.

The first article approves the town to enter into an agreement with Volunteers of America to convert the building into 36 units of affordable senior housing.

The second article, by voter petition, establishes a park in the same location, and calls for the demolition of the former school building.

Voting will be done by paper ballot June 8. Polls will be open at the town office from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
