First Congregational Church of Camden formally welcomes new minister

Mar 08, 2019
Ute Molitor will be formally installed at the First Congregational Church of Camden March 17.

Camden — The First Congregational Church of Camden will formalize its covenant in ministry with its new settled minister, the Rev. Dr. Ute S. Molitor, and the wider United Church of Christ, in a formal service of installation Sunday, March 17, at 2 p.m. All are welcome to attend this important event in the life of the church.

The service will include special music with brass accompaniment. Dr. Robert A. Jonas will preach. He is the founder and director of The Empty Bell, a Christian contemplative sanctuary with a special emphasis on the Buddhist-Christian dialogue and the arts, located in Northampton, Mass. Jonas is a clinical psychologist, spiritual director, author, musician and earth steward. He is a longtime friend and spiritual guide to Molitor, who is also particularly interested in spiritually transformative practices and incorporates the wisdom of various faith traditions in her ministry.

Since arriving in Camden last year, Molitor has embraced the congregation's strong commitment to serving the community and the desire for spiritual growth. She continues to learn about the real needs in the wider community, including, but not limited to, access to affordable medical care, housing, food and addiction recovery services. She has been impressed by the ways citizens are using their time and talents to address these needs. She is an active member of the Midcoast Clergy Interfaith Alliance and enjoys collaboration beyond traditional dividing lines.

The service of installation will be held in the church sanctuary, 55 Elm St. A special offering will be taken to support individuals from the Midcoast Association UCC who are preparing for the ministry. Following the service of installation, the church deacons will host a reception in the Pilgrim Room. RSVPs are appreciated by calling the church office at 236-4821 or emailing churchoffice@camdenucc.org.

What an awesome time this was!  Dr. Molitor is going to be a great addition to our local faith community. Dr. Jonas's message was very encouraging as he shared how we need to remind each other who we really are: THE BELOVED.
