Finnish classes set for spring in South Thomaston

Marja-Leena Bailey and Aire-Maija Schwann will teach Finnish in South Thomaston this spring.

South Thomaston — Marja-Leena Bailey, department chairman of World Languages at Middlesex Community College in Massachusetts, has agreed to teach a Finnish language class for the Midcoast community.

Bailey will be assisted by her friend and teaching colleague Aire-Maija Schwann. The class will begin on Saturday, April 6 and run for six Saturdays ending on Saturday, May 11.

Classes will be held in Jura Hall beneath the Finnish Congregational Church in South Thomaston from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday afternoons. The cost will be $115 per person with the opportunity of a second family member to join for a charge of $100.

Bailey has found a new textbook with CD entitled "Beginner’s Finnish," by Agi Risko that will be available for purchase at the first class.
