Field walk to consider ecology of Weskeag Marsh Sept. 19

Sep 06, 2018
Weskeag Marsh will be the site of a guided walk and talk Sept. 19.

South Thomaston — Friends of the Weskeag invites the public to join Maine Natural Areas Program ecologist Kristen Puryear for a field walk of Weskeag Marsh, and a discussion of tidal marsh ecology. Puryear will talk about common plants and what they tell us about the marsh, or marsh condition, what changes we might see with sea-level rise, and what can be done. The field walk will be on wooded trail and may also venture out into the marsh, so participants should bring appropriate footwear.

Meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the pullover for the Wildlife Management Area on Buttermilk Lane. For more information, contact Vivian Newman at 691-2120 or newviv@roadrunner.com.
