Fiddling, harmonizing Quebe Sisters at Strand

The Quebe Sisters

Rockland — The Quebe Sisters will bring a blend of swing, vintage country, bluegrass, jazz standards and Texas-style fiddling to the Strand Theatre, 345 Main St., Thursday, July 19, at 7:30 p.m.

Sisters Grace, Sophia and Hulda Quebe (pronounced “KWAY-bee”) are fiddle champions who sing in close three-part harmony. The young trio’s vocal and instrumental performances are authentic all-Americana, respectful of the artists that inspired them.

The Dallas-based sisters started taking fiddle lessons before they were teens. From the start, all three sisters demonstrated talent, determination and a love for the music. In addition to their championship fiddling, it was only natural to add harmony vocals. In January 2005, they debuted their singing at the National Cowboy Poetry & Music Gathering in Elko, Nev.

Influences and inspiration range from Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys to Ella Fitzgerald; and Quintet of the Hot Club of France to The Beatles. Along with headlining their own shows, the sisters have shared stages with American music legends Willie Nelson, George Strait, Merle Haggard, Riders in the Sky and many others.

Tickets are $17 in advance, $20 at the door. To buy tickets, or for more information, visit rocklandstrand.com; call 594-0070, ext. 3; or email info@rocklandstrand.com.
