Waldoboro — On Dutch Neck in Waldoboro, a little bit of wilderness has been preserved for generations to come, thanks to the donation of a six-acre parcel of land that hugs the coast of the Medomak River and overlooks Ben’s Island. The parcel was donated by Carolyn, Alan and Ben Cooper of Glasglow, Scotland.

In the coming years, a trail to be built through this preserve will allow the community to enjoy the beauty of the property, and will serve as the gateway to 14-acre Ben’s Island. The island, with its saltmarshes, is accessible at low tide from the mainland.
