Renny Stackpole

Searsport — Penobscot Marine Museum will host Renny Stackpole, author and PMM Director Emeritus, Thursday, July 27, at 7 p.m.

Stackpole will share his latest research, which he has just published in the book “The Gillchrest Papers.” It is based on family letters and business papers Stackpole found tucked away in his attic. The Gillchrests was a Thomaston seafaring family who built, managed and sailed ships to distant ports around the world from 1830 to 1870.

Stackpole’s free talk will be held at Penobscot Marine Museum's Visitor Center, 2 Church St. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
