Exploring end-of-life music

Camden — Midcoast musician Barbara Jean O’Brien will share the story of her journey into Music-Thanatology, the study and practice of prescriptive music for end-of-life care, Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. at the downtown Camden Public Library.

Listeners will learn about the effects of acoustic vibration on bodily systems and their therapeutic application for everything from anxiety, shortness of breath and circulatory challenge to pain management, disorientation and support within non-responsive conditions. Music-Thanatology supports the dying person and his or her community of family, friends and other caregivers.
