Augusta — Medomak Valley High School Adult Education Director Kayla Sikora recently met with independent State Reps. Jeffrey Evangelos of Friendship, House District 91, and William Pluecker, of Warren, House District 95, to seek increased support for adult education programs in Maine. Sikora explained the importance of adult education to the representatives, who both pledged to support LD-718, "An Act To Increase Funding for Adult Basic Literacy, Workplace Education and College Preparedness."

This bill provides an increase in funding for the adult education subsidy to local school units that operate adult education programs. It also provides targeted funds to improve the capacity of local adult education programs to meet students' academic and work readiness and training needs.
