Waldoboro — Eva J. McLain. 87, died April 14, 2018, at Sussman House in Rockport surrounded by the family she loved.

She was born April 2, 1931, in Waldoboro, daughter of Ralph and Cora Johnson.

She worked as a waitress in Waldoboro, where she met Ralph McLain Jr and later became his wife for 56 years until his passing in 2007. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

She also worked at Sylvania and for the Waldoboro Miller School as a lunch lady. She loved being with all the kids, who knew her as Muffin.

She is survived by a daughter, Rita Richardson, and husband David Richardson of Gilford, N.H.; a granddaughter, Erika Edgar, and husband Joel Edgar of Somersworth, N.H.; and a grandson, Andrew Richardson, and his fiancée, Tonianne Piscitello, of Portsmouth, N.H.; two sisters, Ruth Higgins of Manchester, N.H., and Dorothy Goff and husband Richard, also of Manchester, N.H.; sisters-in-law Celia Ramsdell of Pittston and Winona Johnson of Waldoboro; and several nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Shuman Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eva’s memory may be made out to either Waldoboro Ambulance or Waldoboro Little League, and mailed, in care of the Town Office, to P.O. BOX J, Waldoboro, ME 04572.
