Environmental book club to meet in January

Dec 13, 2018
An environmental book club at the Bremen Public Library will read and discuss “The Songs of Trees; Stories from Nature’s Great Connectors,” by George David Haskell.

Bremen — The Bremen Public Library and Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District are collaborating to present a new book club in Lincoln County focused on environmental issues. The group will meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 2, 16 and 30, with a snow date of Feb. 6, at Bremen Public Library, 204 Waldoboro Road, Bremen.

Both the library and Knox-Lincoln SWCD chose to explore the subject of trees by reading and discussing George David Haskell’s “The Songs of Trees; Stories from Nature’s Great Connectors.” Participants are asked to read the first of three sections before the first gathering. For those not wishing to purchase books, limited copies are available to borrow through your local library or inter-library loan. Feel free to bring a bagged lunch. There is no fee, but participants should preregister by calling Knox-Lincoln SWCD at 596-2040 or emailing julie@knox-lincoln.org.
