A stone marked with a plaque on the lodge grounds on Rankin Street serves as a reminder of the event, which claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people, including many firefighters and police officers.

The Rockland Fire Department will hold a remembrance ceremony at the fire station on Park Street 9 a.m., Monday, Sept. 11.
