Local student graduates from Amherst College

AMHERST, MASS.  — Hayli Kinney, child of Kelli J. Kinney of Tenants Harbor May 25 from Amherst College.

Kinney, who majored in geology, entered Amherst after graduating from Rockland District High School. Kinney was one of 474 seniors who received their degrees at the college’s commencement exercises.

Latin American cooking class

ROCKLAND — Tom Sigler of Comida Latin Kitchen will join Penobscot School’s lineup of instructors this fall. As part of the class, students will choose and create various dishes from South America, Mexico, Cuba and Spain. Each class will include hands-on learning in the school’s kitchen.

In addition to his restaurant in Camden, Sigler has worked as chef de cuisine at a James Beard Society nominated bistro and currently serves as chef consultant to a restaurant in Tulum, Mexico.
