Camden — Earl Robert Wolfe, 81, passed away July 16, 2017, at his home. Born in Hershey, Pa., June 28, 1936, he was the son of Earl O. Wolfe and Martha E. Wolfe.

Earl was raised in Bellevue Park, Harrisburg, Pa. His Pennsylvania buddies and family knew him as “Jug.” This nickname stuck for a lifetime. After graduating from high school, Earl worked in his father’s paper company for several years before attending Penn State, where he studied business administration. Following college, Earl became a “mainframe man” for IBM. During those years he relocated to Gaithersburg, Md. In the final years of his career, he traveled to South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, New Zealand and Venezuela, where he taught other IBM “mainframe minds” the art of fine-tuning the mainframe computer. Following his retirement, he and his wife relocated to Midcoast Maine.

Earl was a loving father and grandfather, a devoted husband, a caring brother, a fun-loving uncle and an all-around good neighbor to those around him.

He was a man of many toys! Airplanes, motorcycles and sailboats, most anything that moved, occupied his free time. He enjoyed studying the science of performance and took pride in sharpening his skills.

He entertained us all. Earl shared stories about the dogs that marked his lifetime; two wire-haired fox terriers, Woowie and Ike, and three Labrador retrievers, Buddy, Ula and Ellie. And then there were jokes, puns and plays on words that he delivered with artful accuracy. He was the life of the party.

His parents, Earl O.Wolfe and Martha E. Wolfe, predeceased Earl.

Surviving is his wife of 31 years, Marti Wolfe, of Camden; daughter Brooke Ellen Schoffstall and her husband, Stephen Schoffstall, of Weatogue, Conn., and their sons, Aidan and Cameron; former wife Rosemary Farmer of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; sister Joan Douglas of Hershey, Pa.; nephew Matthew Douglas and his wife, Vicki, and daughter Jessika of Covington, Ga.; niece Margaret Ann of Harrisburg, Pa.; great-nieces Megan Maruski of Linglestown, Pa., and Kelsey McPhillips of Lincoln, Neb.; maternal uncle C. Frederick Kreiser, age 101, of Sterling Heights, Mich.
