Islesboro — Six games into the high school girls basketball season, occasionally undermanned and relatively young Islesboro has carved out one victory and a few competitive court battles.

The Eagles also stand alone as the school’s lone varsity hoop program this winter.

The Eagles, coached by Krysti Hall, traveled to Hyde School of Bath on Wednesday, Jan. 10 to tangle with the Wolfpack, with hopes of repeating their lone victory of the season — a 62-16 decision on Dec. 11 — but met a much more determined Wolfpack this go-round and would up on the short end of a 40-36 decision.

The islanders had only seven players available for the game with Hyde.
