Driver passes out causing crash

Rockport — One person was taken to the hospital after the driver of a Jeep passed out at the wheel, causing a crash, June 18, on Pascal Avenue in Rockport.

The Jeep Cherokee was driven by Alden Louder, 19, of Rockland, and Shailyn Rittall, 21, of Rockland was a passenger.

Louder passed out due to a medical event, according to police.

The vehicle was traveling towards Rockport Village.

Police Chief Randy Gagne said the Jeep was reported to have been traveling all over the roadway.

It left the road, traveled between a mailbox and guy-wire and then struck a street sign and came to a stop in the middle of the Elm Street intersection.

Louder was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center by Northeast Mobile Health, Chief Gagne said. Rittall was not injured.

Rockport Police Sgt. James Moore is investigating the crash. Rockport Fire also responded.
