Driver charged with OUI after Rockland crash

Rockland — A Rockland man was arrested Sunday morning, July 19, following a car crash on Main Street.

Ryan Kelly, 44, was driving his driving his 2004 GMC pickup truck north on Main Street shortly before 11 a.m., July 19. A witness reported Kelly was operating erratically before he lost control of the truck, according to Rockland police.

The truck crashed into a utility pole adjacent to Antiques Etcetera. Kelly was not injured. The truck was a total loss.

Sgt. Andrew Redden and Officer Jeff Aeschlimann responded to the crash along with Rockland fire and emergency medical services.

I doubt there would be any joking on here had anyone been injured.  People are only being light hearted because there were no injuries.

I know it can be fun to joke about this, but had there been pedestrians on the sidewalk, they may have been seriously injured or worse. Or if there had been someone on a bicycle riding along the curb, something I do on a regular basis? Or suppose the driver had crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head on?
