Rockland — Local artist Catinka Knoth will teach drawing Scenes of September in Maine, with a focus on buildings, at Mondays at 11 a.m. beginning Sept. 11 in the Community Room of Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St.

Led by Knoth, adult art workshop participants will make their own drawings in color. Knoth offers the classes free to the general public, with materials supplied, hosted by Friends of Rockland Library. For more information, call Knoth at 691-5544 or the library at 594-0310.

Knoth will lead students in drawing several scenes of iconic local Maine buildings. Students may experience simple aspects of perspective theory; and also will practice the technique of coloring in without using outlines.

Familiar buildings from St. George and South Thomaston along the St. George peninsula will be the subjects: Sept. 11, Harjula's barn; Sept. 18, a classic Maine farmhouse; and Sept. 25, the St. George Grange.

Knoth, who paints watercolors of Maine and whimsical animal scenes that she offers as cards and prints, also teaches a free weekly children's drawing class at the library, sponsored by Wendy and Keith

Wellin. For more information about Knoth's work, visit catinkacards.com.
