Doubleheader of gospel music

Alan Frink

Waldoboro — The Summer of Praise Under the Tent at the top of the hill, across from Ralph’s Homes on Route 1, continues with gospel concerts Friday and Sunday evenings, July 14 and 16.

Friday at 7 p.m. will feature the music ministry of Alan Frink of New Hampshire, who has been singing inspirational music since he was 4 and joined the family’s music program, singing with his older brother in churches in many states. Later, he and his father sang for several years in full-time evangelism. Frink also spent a year traveling with music and drama group the Agape Players, after which he began to pursue a solo ministry. As a mature baritone, he offers an inspiring program of both Southern and light contemporary gospel music.

Sunday at 6 p.m., Midcoast native Shannon Malone Tundel will return to the tent. Tundel, who lives in Topsham with her husband and their two children, is part of the worship team at her church and has been invited to sing at numerous churches from Maine to Florida. Music has always been a big part of her life, both in school and church.

This is the sixth summer of gospel concerts Fridays at 7 p.m. featuring both local and out-of-state musicians; and Sunday services at 6 p.m. with different pastors taking turns —except for a few Sundays like this with a gospel concert. Revival meetings will be held Sunday, July 23, at 6 p.m.; and Monday through Wednesday, July 24 to 26, at 7 p.m.

A special “thank you” goes to Bob Weintraub of Maine Top Mill who, for the sixth summer, has graciously allowed the Summer of Praise tent to be on the property. And since it’s under a tent (there is bug screening), all events are held rain or shine and all are welcome to stop by for as long as they’re able to stay; bring a lawn chair (or a cushion) if folding metal chairs are too uncomfortable.
