Tenants Harbor — A scoreboard has been donated by John A. Schwartzburg of Tenants Harbor for the Town Landing Field, said Ben Vail, St. George Parks and Recreation Department director.

Schwartzburg's house overlooks the small, decades-old field, situated just up from the harbor off Route 131, and he wanted the children who play there to have a scoreboard.

Schwartzburg said he has, for years, enjoyed watching games on the field.

The Town Landing Field was the longtime home of St. George Little League until the larger ballfields further down Route 131 was finished in the late 1990s. At that point, the Town Landing Field became a softball field only, with use by Farm League and T-ball, Vail said.

Currently, Little League and Farm League softball use the Town Landing Field as their home venue for games, with occasional use by T-ball and "a good deal of community use for pick-up games and recreation during the summer," Vail said.
