Dominick Murgita

Brooksville, Fla. — Dominick "Bucky" Murgita of Brooksville, Fla., passed away Feb. 25, 2018. He was born in Rockland in 1930. He attended Rockland High School, where he was a standout athlete in both basketball and baseball.

He then served in the Army during the Korean War. After leaving the Army, he married and moved to Michigan City, Ind., where he raised three children, Steven, Michael and Carol. Michael died in 1962 of cancer. Carol died in 2013 of cancer.

He was active in the community and loved to play golf and fish in Lake Michigan. He moved to Brooksville, Fla., in 1994 and continued to be active in the Brooksville community. He spent his time helping others and continued to play golf, sing karaoke and travel.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann, of Brooksville, Fla.; his son Steven Murgita and his daughter-in-law Jacqueline Murgita of Charlotte N.C.; his three grandchildren, Chris and Kim Murgita of Charlotte N.C., and Amanda Bauman of Indianapolis. He has two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Olivia Murgita, both of Fort Mill, S.C.

Dominick will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who feel blessed to have had him with them as long as they did.
