Dine & Dance for MCMA

May 08, 2018
Trois en Vol

St. George — Midcoast Music Academy will host a fundraising dinner dance Saturday, May 19, offering a chance to support music education in the Midcoast community while experiencing a fabulous evening full of delicious food, foot-tapping live music and local personalities.

The benefit Dine & Dance event will run from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the St. George Grange Hall at Wiley's Corner, off Route 131.

With a sophisticated Tuscan theme, the event's professionally catered dinner will feature Mediterranean appetizers, dinner and dessert by Bells and Whistles' foremost caterer. Wine and beer will be available for purchase. During dinner, guests will enjoy a performance by MCMA's teen jazz ensemble, The Extension Chords, fresh from their second place finish at last month's Trekkapalooza.

After dinner, the dance floor will be stomping to the irresistible rhythms of Trois en Vol, an up-and-coming trio. In 2017, Abigail Nash (fiddle), Robin Lane (cello) and Joe Cough (guitar) began working together as an experimental trio playing traditional Celtic and French Canadian music. All three have extensive classical training, but Trois en Vol also employs elements of rock, blues, folk, and jazz.

Tickets for the evening are $75 and can be purchased at Midcoast Music Academy and Rock City Café, both on Main Street in Rockland; at the door; or online at midcoastmusicacademy.com.

Midcoast Music Academy was founded in 2012 by Tom and Anne Ulichny and has rapidly grown into a vital part of the Midcoast's music and business community. MCMA provides high-quality private music instruction, community programs and performances; and strives to make music education available for all, regardless of the ability to pay. MCMA raises approximately 70 percent of its operating costs through tuition and program revenue.

Funds raised by the Dine & Dance event will help the school continue to flourish. Business sponsorship of Dine & Dance include McLean Borden Cottage, ReVision Energy, Rockland Ford, Rockland Savings Bank, the O'Hara Corporation, Eastern Tire & Auto Services, Loyal Biscuit, Glendarragh Lavender, Marriner's Restaurant, Flowers by Hoboken, Atlantic Baking Company and Wallace Events.
