Diesel Dog is ready to find the perfect home!

It's #WetNoseWednesday and we want to tell you a story. We want to tell you this story not to make you mad or sad but hopeful. Hopeful that you will help us find the perfect home for Diesel.

Meet Diesel. Diesel is an 85-pound, 5-year-old pit bull terrier. Diesel spent the first four years of his life chained up outside where he was was regularly abused and used for target practice with a pellet gun. His owners eventually shot and killed his brother but kept Diesel until a neighbor was able to talk them into giving Diesel to her.

When Diesel arrived at Pope Memorial Humane Society, he was defensively aggressive to just about everyone who passed his kennel. He was a big dog with virtually no training, and he liked to throw his weight around. He was jumpy, “mouthy” and had a nasty habit of trying to muzzle-punch staff in the face. It often took two advanced dog walkers taking him out together because he had no leash manners and they felt it took two of them to control him.

After months of working with Diesel, he now has his basic obedience commands (sit, down, stay), and he will walk gently on a loose leash. He loves to give big sloppy kisses and has the cutest bunny ears when he gets excited. Additionally, thanks to generous donors, Diesel was able to spend two weeks with Kompletely K-9 Dog Training and Rehabilitation to work on his leash manners and reactivity.

We are proud to say that Diesel is officially on the adoption floor at Pope Memorial Humane Society. He will definitely need a home that will continue his training. He wants someone that understands he is a big, strong dog that wants to know the love and comfort of a forever home.

Help us find Diesel a home! #DieselWaggin is ready and waiting!
