Lost, Found and Looking

Critters, cleanups and cookouts, oh my!

Pope Memorial Humane Society Loki is a young, excitable bulldog looking for someone with a good ball-throwing arm.

From the desk of Shelter Manager at Pope Memorial Humane Society Theresa Gargan,

If you are looking for a good reason to get out and enjoy the last days of summer, we have just the event for you. Join us at the shelter Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon for our annual Cleanup and Cookout. It's a great way to spend time with friends and family while helping us get things tidied up for the fall.

After some gardening, painting or trail work we will treat you to a delicious cookout. So polish up your rake, grab your gardening gloves and bring your appetite. The more hands on deck the more time we will have to eat! All of our projects will be outdoors and planned with social distancing in mind.

While helping out you may be fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of our featured pets. Sometimes just one look is all it takes to find your next family member. If felines are your favorites and you like them wearing tuxedos, then Mischief might fit the bill. He is a four-year-old boy with a mind of his own.

Mischief will let you know when he wants attention and might grumble at you if he doesn't. He has a bold personality and would appreciate someone to give him the adulation he just knows he deserves.

If a convivial canine is what you seek, one glimpse at Loki's smile might make you melt. Loki is a year and a half old American Bulldog with energy to burn. If you need to perfect your pitch, he is willing to play fetch for hours on end. You will, however, need plenty of balls as Loki doesn't bring them back.

In the home of his dreams, he would be the one and only pet, although he wouldn't mind a rough and tumble female friend for play dates. Loki needs a fenced in yard because he fancies himself a roaming gnome.

Applications for Mischief, Loki or any of our other residents can be submitted via popehumane.org.

Our wish list this week includes snack size Ziploc bags, canned dog food, paper towels and 33 gallon garbage bags. Hope to see you Saturday!
