Creative fun at The Art Loft

Oct 10, 2018

Rockland — October continues to see a harvest of art activities at The Art Loft, on the lobby level of the downtown Thorndike Building, 385 Main St., Suite 9.

The month’s resident artist, Erika Manning, is offering Your Creative Self classes Mondays from 5 to 7 p.m.; and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon all month The drop-in classes are free to Art Loft members and $20 for others.

Students of all abilities and backgrounds will be encouraged to immerse themselves in techniques designed to cultivate a “beginner mind,” surrender to the moment and let go of the ego. Class discussions and exercises will draw from extremely diverse areas including Surrealism, meditation, movement, theater, traditional studio arts and yogic philosophy.

On Friday, Oct. 19, local artist Randy Fein will helm a Paint Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Taking a cue from her ceramic relief work, she will guide participants step-by-step through painting Fabulous Imaginative Fish. Snacks will be served during a leg-stretching break; feel free to bring your own snacks and/or beverage (wine or beer is fine).

Cost is $35. To reserve a spot, register online; drop-ins only accepted as space permits.

Tuesday evening, Oct. 23, everyone is invited to bring a pumpkin to the downtown art center for a 6 to 7:30 p.m. free Pumpkin Decorating Party. The Art Loft will supply the paint and brushes, as well as serve seasonal treats. RSVP is requested to make sure there is enough for all, so registering online is requested.
