Crash leads to charges for driver, passenger

Courtesy of: Rockport Fire Department A 2012 Hyundai driven by Alexa Pelkey veered off Main Street in Rockport and struck a rock Tuesday night Jan. 7.

Rockport — A single vehicle crash on Main Street in Rockport resulted in charges against the driver and passenger Tuesday, Jan. 7.

According to the Rockport Police, reports of the accident came at 8:16 p.m., at which time Officer Tony Del Vecchio responded to the scene.

A beige 2012 Hyundai driven by Alexa Pelkey, 25, veered off Main Street heading east near the intersection with Cross Street.

According to the Rockport Fire Department the car struck a rock, preventing it from going into Goose River.

There were no injuries but Pelkey was charged with operating under the influence. The other passenger in the car, Laurie Hunt, 57, was charged with disorderly conduct.

Del Vecchio was assisted by Officer Jacob Powers while members of the Rockport Fire Department, North East Mobile Health Services and Camden Exxon also responded to the call.
