Hope — In an uncontested emergency election to fill vacancies on the Select Board, Richard Crabtree and Wendy Pelletier were elected April 27.

Both received 80 votes each in the election. Crabtree previously served on the Select Board and represented the area in Maine's State House as a Republican. Retired, he had a career in finance, including serving as a vice president at CMP and working in the fiber optics industry. Pelletier is also a Republican and former Select Board member.

Crabtree will serve a two-year term and Pelletier one year.

There were three write-ins and four blanks on the ballots cast for the two-year term and five write-ins and two blanks for the one-year term.

The Select Board vacancies were created when Amy Gertner and Thomas Ingraham resigned.

A special town meeting has been set on the school budget for 6:30 p.m., May 6.

A public hearing is planned for May 18 on the items for the regular town meeting, which has been set for June 22. Both meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m.
