A post office complaint

Mail delivery in Owls Head has undergone a deplorable change.

I moved to Maine in 2007, and until recently had outstanding mail service six days a week. However, I was told this carrier was "underbid" and replaced. The results are disheartening.

One week, for example, I had the flag up for mail pick-up both Monday and Tuesday. There was no mail delivery or pick-up. I called the Rockland Post Office. Wednesday, some mail arrived. Friday and Saturday there was no mail delivery or pick-up. Sunday, a carrier filled the box to overflowing.

I now receive some mail six days a week, but some is definitely late, including my bank statements. I am particularly concerned about the two weekly magazines I have subscribed to for years. The Economist has arrived, but often days late. The Blood Horse (I owned Thoroughbreds for years) used to arrive every Tuesday. Now it comes a week late or later. I have not received an issue since mid-November.

I have written letters and complained in person and have had no response. This is unacceptable.
