Cooperative Extension webinars set for August

Orono — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Orono will offer two webinars in August.

A five-part livestock nutrition webinar series, which is free, will run Thursdays, from Aug. 6 to Sept. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. Topics include basic nutrition needs of beef cattle, small ruminants, pigs and poultry, as well as processing expectations. Colt Knight, UMaine Extension assistant professor and state livestock specialist, leads the series.

Learn how to savor summer flavors all year with four new live University of Maine Cooperative Extension food preservation webinars. Freezing fruit is the topic Tuesday, Aug. 4. from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Topics at the same time on subsequent Tuesdays in August include steam canning, freezing tomatoes and corn, and canning salsa and tomatoes.
