arista di maiale, Tuscan pork

Join Chef Sara Jenkins at Nina June Restaurant on Feb. 5 for a culinary tour of Tuscany, Sara’s Italian home where she learned to cook with her Tuscan nonna Mita Antolini. In this hands-on class we'll make typical Tuscan country delights, including pinzimonio of raw vegetables with fresh new olive oil, crostini from the farmhouse table, potato gnocchi, pork-roasted arista di maiale braised with chestnuts, and cavolo nero (Tuscan kale).

This is the first in a series of six regional Italian classes scheduled through the winter with Sara, stopping in Napoli, Venice, Rome, Sicily, and finally Liguria on April 9. Planning an Italian trip this year or dreaming of one in the future? This is a great introduction with a chef who has lived, worked, studied, cooked, and eaten her way up and down the boot of Italy. Classes are hands-on, three hours long, ending with dinner and wine.

Cost: $150 per class including dinner & wine; 3 classes for $400, 6 classes for $750. Get more info at www.ninajunerestaurant.com, or call 207-236-8880.
