Rockport — The Camden Hills girls lacrosse team shook off rain — what is new this spring? — and a tough opponent to record its first win of the season on Wednesday, May 10 at Don Palmer Field.

The Windjammers and visiting Lawrence Bulldogs of Fairfield combined to score 29 goals, but, fortunately for the hosts, Camden Hills put in a few more en route to 17-12 victory, the first of the season.

Audrey Heriz-Smith and Sarah Contento keyed the Windjammer charge with five goals, while Charlotte Leparulo added three, Olivia Powers two and Ashlee McIntosh and Hazel Delehey one.

Katie Southworth made 14 saves in goal for the hosts.

"Ryan Hart played a great game in the midfield, along with Audrey [Heriz-Smith] and Hazel [Delehey]," said veteran Windjammer coach Amy Gertner. "Susannah Gray dominated center defense, along with Maddie Bracher, Capri Buck and Sophie Ernst."

Additional information for Lawrence was unavailable.

In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Class B North, Camden Hills (1-3, 2.3689 points) is 10th, while Morse of Bath (5-1, 35.8333 points) is first in the 13-team region. The top nine teams qualify for the playoffs.
