Connecting Watergate to the White House in film series classic

THOMASTON — The Friends of the Thomaston Public Library’s Friday Night Film Series, screening films weekly at 6:30 p.m. in Room 200 of the library, 60 Main St./Route 1, focuses on movies featuring “Deceit at the Top” this month.

On Friday, Sept. 20, the series screens “All the President's Men” (1976, USA). Two green reporters working for the Washington Post, Bob Woodward (Robert Redford) and Carl Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman), research the botched burglary of the Democratic Party Headquarters at the Watergate apartment complex. With the help of a source, code-named Deep Throat (Hal Holbrook), the two reporters make a connection between the burglars and the White House. Winner of four Academy Awards.

The PG-rated film runs 138 minutes. Closing out “Deceit at the Top” month is “Moving the Mountain” (1994, UK) on Sept. 27.

Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. The Thomaston Academy Building is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance. For more information, call the library at 354-2453.
