Community Messiah sing returns

Dec 04, 2019
Messiah sing soprano soloist Robyn Tarantino.

Thomaston — The Episcopal Church of St. John Baptist will host the annual community Messiah sing on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m.

The event is coordinated by Down East Singers, and Anthony Antolini, the group's artistic director, will conduct. Mozart Mentors Orchestra and keyboard player Sean Fleming will provide accompaniment.

All area singers interested in performing the Christmas section and the Hallelujah Chorus of G.F. Handel's 1741 Messiah are invited to participate. Scores will be available for those who do not have their own. Singers will be seated in the pews by voice part.

Two of the soloists, tenor David Myers Jr. and contralto Amanda Mahaffey, have been featured each year since the event at St. John's began in 2012. Last year, bass Dominique Rosoff joined the roster. New this year is soprano Robyn Tarantino.

Non-singers are welcome to listen. The event is free, but donations will be gratefully received.

The church is at 200 Main St., at the intersection of Green Street. Parking is available on Main and Green streets and behind the Business Block.
