Community groups to donate 10,000 meals to AIO

Rockport — Nativity Lutheran Church, 179 Old County Road, Rockport, in partnership with The Outreach Program, will hold a meal-packing event Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Approximately 50 local volunteers from the community and the church will package 10,000 nutritionally sound, easy-to-prepare meals to be donated to the Area Interfaith Outreach Food Pantry and Child Hunger Backpack Program for distribution to area families and children.

Nativity Lutheran Church has been a member congregation with AIO since it began and currently houses the Child Hunger Program. The mission of the Outreach Program is to provide safe water, food, medical care and education to children and those in need in the U.S. and abroad.  For more information on the Outreach Program, see or

WOW, what an example of putting faith into action!  Our faith communities would all be full and overflowing if showing the love and hope that is being shown through this outreach. Have seen it happen in Cuba as churches met the need in the community before turning to their own needs.  It was not done for that reason; it was done for the love of one's neighbor. As it is being done at Nativity Lutheran.
