CAMDEN — Family, friends and community members formed cheering sections all along the 1.5-mile route of the Camden Hills Regional High School's March Through Town June 7, in celebration of the graduating class of 2021.

The longstanding event is held by the Camden community for graduating seniors who come from Camden, Rockport, Hope, Appleton and Lincolnville.

Until 2020, seniors marched down Main and Elm streets to the First Congregational Church of Camden for a traditional baccalaureate ceremony.

During the pandemic, the entire event has taken place outdoors, with a longer march route so spectators can spread out. As a result, many more people have come to Camden to see the graduates march.

Groups gathered on the lawn of the Camden Public Library and the Village Green, on Main and Elm Streets, and at the end of the route on Mechanic and Knowlton streets, keeping the energy going from beginning to end.

In 2020, the march was the only event where all of the senior class could be together in one place to celebrate their high school graduation.

This year, the march returned to the tradition of being the first of several events to occur during graduation week, which culminate with the official graduation ceremony June 11.
