Speaker to talk about Viking navigation methods Sept. 25

ROCKLAND -- The Apprenticeshop, 655 Main St., welcomes Lena Börjesson Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. for a talk about Viking navigation. She has been an instructor in various Scandinavian viking boats, and sailed more than 2000 nautical miles of trial trips to gain experience in how the Viking-age sailors may have found their way over the north Atlantic, with and without any navigational tools. In her talk, Börjesson will present the results of her Viking-age navigation trials and discuss how they confirm or question existing theories of how the Vikings navigated.
