Recovery awareness rally, memorial set for Sept. 15

ROCKLAND -- The Mid-Coast Recovery Coalition and the Coastal Recovery Community Center will host a recovery awareness rally and memorial at Harbor Park Sept. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. as part of National Recovery Month. People in recovery will speak, followed by a brief memorial.

Tri-County Solid Waste update offered Sept. 19

UNION -- Dave Stanley, manager of Tri-County Solid Waste Management Organization, will give an informal talk on how the facility functions Wednesday, Sept.19, at 6:30 p.m. at Vose Library, 392 Common Road. Stanley’s presentation will describe recent improvements at the facility, how it helps pay for itself, and how services fit into the system.of recycling and disposal. There will be a time for questions. Stanley will be joined by John Shepard and other members of the Tri-County board of directors.

Local chapter of Ducks Unlimited celebrates 40 years Sept. 27

ROCKLAND -- The Mid-Coast Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold its 40th anniversary banquet and live auction Thursday, Sept. 27, at 5:30 p.m. at the Rockland Elks Lodge, 210 Rankin St.  The nonprofit raises money to enhance and restore natural habit and wetlands in North America
