Come out to the cafe for a weekend of music

King Pirogi

ROCKLAND — Rock City Cafe, 316 Main St., is chock full of music this weekend with two bands putting on evening shows. On Friday, Sept. 13, King Pirogi performs, followed by Hilton Park on Saturday, Sept. 14.

From asphalt to bowling, from dreamy fish to full figured women, King Pirogi covers it all with their own brand of hilarious music steeped in Polish tradition. Come join us -- all ages are guaranteed two hours of great entertainment!

King Pirogi is Tom Jamrog on accordion, Hank Lunn on drums, Dave Kirkham on bass, and Morgan Kirkham on baritone saxophone.

Hilton Park is made up of a father, son and neighbor from a small town in Southern Maine. Their music is a pure blend of folk and finesse, as evidenced by the way they meld their voices and creativity so seamlessly.

Though heavily informed by godfathers of acoustic music like Simon and Garfunkel and Crosby, Stills and Nash, Hilton Park is a modern, forward-thinking band whose tones and textures are sublime, brimming with both originality and ambiguity, making any of the usual comparisons seem superfluous.

The music starts at 6 p.m. and plays until 8 p.m. both nights. With coffee, cocktails, food and live music, Rock City Cafe is the place to be this weekend. For more information, call 594-4123 or check the cafe out on Facebook.
