Coastal Field Hockey Play Day Championships, in 37th year, swing in Aug. 28

Belfast, Camden Hills, Mount View among Midcoast participants

Belfast — The 37th annual Coastal Field Hockey Play Day Championships, a preseason event for high school squads, will swing in on Wednesday, Aug. 28 as five schools from coastal and central Maine will participate.

Camden Hills of Rockport, Mount View of Thorndike, Boothbay Region, Hampden Academy and host Belfast will participate in the play day, which will begin at 10 a.m. on the Lion field.

Scoring for the play day is unconventional as one point is earned for a shot on goal saved by the goalie and five points for each goal scored. Each team will play four games, with a tournament champion declared at the conclusion of the final game based on the accumulation of total team points throughout the day.

Games are 25 minutes running time and concessions will be available.

The schedule of games is as follows: Camden Hills versus Belfast, 10 a.m.; Hampden Academy versus Mount View, 10:30 a.m.; Boothbay versus Belfast, 11 a.m.; Mount View versus Camden Hills, 11:30 a.m.; Hampden Academy versus Boothbay, noon; Boothbay versus Mount View, 12:30 p.m.; Hampden Academy versus Camden Hills, 1 p.m.; Belfast versus Hampden Academy, 1:30 p.m.; Camden Hills versus Boothbay, 2 p.m.; and Mount View versus Belfast, 2:30 p.m.
