Children's Museum offers closer look at bugs July 13

Jul 06, 2018

Rockland — The Coastal Children’s Museum, 75 Mechanic St., hosts a workshop for kids all about bugs. Join entomologist Karen Coluzzi in the museum’s Butterfly Garden Friday, July 13, at 11 a.m. to learn about the bugs and insects found in the garden. Kids will explore the garden looking for some of the bugs that call our gardens home and help keep them healthy and beautiful.

Coluzzi is an entomologist with the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry. She runs the Cooperative Agricultural Pest Survey program, which focuses on surveying for harmful exotic and invasive plant pests. While Coluzzi's work focuses on some pests that are harmful to plants, she wants to emphasize to kids that most of the bugs we find in our backyards are actually good for our gardens.

This workshop is included in the price of admission and free for members. For more information, call 596-0300 or visit coastalchildrensmuseum.org.
