Cartwright’s Laws rule Peaks Island

Peaks Island — “Intersections,” a solo exhibition of paintings by Katharine Cartwright, NWS of Spruce Head, will open Friday, March 7, at Richard Boyd Art Gallery, corner of Island Avenue and Epps Street. The exhibition features a selection of 12 paintings in watercolor from Cartwright's ongoing The Laws of Nature series of contemporary works.

Cartwright is an award-winning, nationally recognized artist and art instructor whose current body of works are at the intersection of the visual arts and natural sciences. Each painting in the series is an aesthetic interpretation of a particular law.

The exhibit will be on view free to the public Fridays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through March 31, and the gallery is open additional hours by appointment. For more information, contact curator Pamela Williamson at 712-1097 or; or visit
