Rockport — Bob Carter of Warren is a longtime, avid golfer who accomplished a rare feat on the morning of Aug. 2.

Not only did Carter record his second career hole-in-one, which is rare enough, but also became only the second golfer to the ace the difficult 179-yard, par-3 ninth hole at Goose River Golf Course.

Carter used a driver and his accurate shot was witnessed by playing partners Peter Lynch, Adam Lynch and Mike Gray.

It was only the second ace made on the ninth hole at Goose River. Jim Blanchette, the current general manager and pro at the club, held the solo ace on the hole until Carter accomplished the event.
