Rockland — Carl F. Knight, 68, passed away Feb. 1, 2020, at Maine Medical Center after a very courageous battle with heart disease, during which he received a heart transplant in 2018.

Born April 14, 1951, Carl was one of ten children, growing up in Thomaston and attending local schools.

Carl joined the Marines during the Vietnam War. After coming home, Carl held many jobs such as being a truck driver and with Lucas Tree. He was also known as “Animal” during his years of being a bouncer at Trackside.

Carl had a huge love for working on cars. His love for old cars- be it muscle cars of street rods- ran through his blood. Carl could often be found at Denny’s or in Searsport at Car Shows every week. If he was not at a show, you could find him every morning having coffee “with the boys”, as he would say. He enjoyed reading Uncle Henry’s with his daughter, Courtney, and bringing her to the junkyard to look for car parts.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Sylvia Knight, his brothers Russell and Ellison and his sister, Diane, his grandson Ayden Knight, and good friend and father-in-law Harry Earl, and the mother of his two eldest children.

Carl is survived by his wife Christine and children Carl Henry, Brittnee, and Courtney Knight; Daniel, and his wife, Ashley, from Stockbridge; mother-in-law Bea; brothers Wesley- his wife, Linda, Wayne, Jeffrey- his partner, Terri; sisters Cindy- her husband, Barry, Lillian and her wife, Kim, Janice and husband, Karl; grandsons Blake and Ashur as well as many nieces and nephews.

Everyone will miss Carl’s jokes, witty comebacks, and his stories. But, he is free now to fly high with angels. There will be a graveside service in the Spring. Date to be announced.
