Mar 21, 2020

Rockport — Speed is considered to have contributed to a Friday night car crash on Route 17 that injured the driver.

Shortly after 9 p.m., March 20, Rockport Officer Antonio Del Vecchio responded to the intersection of Rockland Street and Porter Street for the report of a vehicle that had struck a utility pole.

A silver 2011 Honda Accord, operated by Evan Andrews, 32, of Rockland, was driving west on Rockland Street when the vehicle went off the road, struck a utility pole, rolled over, and came to rest on the driver’s side.

Andrews was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport by Northeast Ambulance. The vehicle was removed by Camden Exxon.

Officer Del Vecchio was assisted by Camden Police Department Sgt Dan Brown, Camden Officers Paul Thompson and Scott Entwistle, and the Rockport Fire Department. Speed is considered a contributing factor and the crash remains under investigation.

The condition of Andrews was not immediately available.
