Camden Lions support October White Cane Month

Oct 11, 2019

Camden — The Camden Lions will provide a recycling location at Reny's Plaza in Camden, Saturday, Oct.19, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., for old eyeglasses, hearing aids and cell phones. Lion members will be available to answer any questions regarding the recycling program or the Lions.

The event is part of Lions International’s eyesight conservation programs. Once eyeglasses, hearing aids and cell phones are collected and sorted, they are sent to the Massabesic Lions Club in Waterboro for further examination before being sent to third-world countries. The Camden Lions have processed thousands of pairs of eyeglasses since 1980 when their recycling program began.

Old eyeglasses, hearing aids and cell phones may also be deposited any time at a drop box attached to the Camden Lions Club building at 10 Lions Lane in Camden. For more information call 236-8476 or visit camdenlionsclub.com.
