Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Midcoast Maine recently received a $1,000 donation from the Camden Lions Club. Club President Nikki Bland says, “We’re happy to support this fine organization serving the Five-Town area (Appleton, Camden, Hope, Lincolnville and Rockport).” Currently they have 80 school based students and mentors in this program. The Camden Lions couldn’t make any charitable donations without the support of all the communities during their fund raising projects (Recycling bottles and cans at MCSW, Mt. Battie Star Poster sales, food concession during the chambers two Harbor Festivals, pancake breakfasts, etc.). President Nikki also comments, “We’re proud to serve and be part of the Five-Town communities.”

Cathy Hardy, Development Director says, “Big Brothers Big Sisters of Midcoast Maine has a mission of providing children in Knox, Lincoln, Penobscot and Waldo Counties facing adversity with strong and enduring professional support on a 1-to-1 relationship that will change their lives for the better, forever.” The BBBSMM serve 25 schools in these 4 counties.

The Camden Lions also supports, Meals on Wheels, local food pantries, places the flags in Camden during all holidays, put up and maintain the Mt. Battie Christmas Star, educational scholarships, holiday food baskets for needy families, eye exams and eye glasses to individuals, and recycles eyeglasses that are distributed in third world countries.
