Camden — The Camden Lions Club donated $1,000 to the Camden Hills Windjammer Ice Hockey Program at their Dec. 5, 2017, meeting. Standing alongside his grandfather, Lion Tom Christie, Cameron Christie, Number 8 for the Windjammers, spoke to the Lions about the hockey teams’ needs and accepted the Lions’ donation from King Lion Bob Oxton. The donation goes to support the hefty cost of ice time for the team.

The Camden Lions are a “family affair” for some in the Christie family. Navy veteran Tom Christie and his sons Jim and Chuck are active members of the Lions. Jim was also career Navy. One of Chuck’s daughters is joining the Leos, the youth group sponsored by the Lions, which will extend the Christie family’s Lion connections to the third generation.

The Lions meet the first and third Tuesday of each month to share dinner at the Lions Club building on Lions Lane. Guests are invited to join the Lions for dinner.

FMI: contact membership committee chairs Jerry Stone, 542-9064 or Bunnie Dunavent, 236-9716.
