Camden Hills, North Haven girls finish on strong note

The Camden Hills and North Haven girls basketball teams split in their season finales on the hardwood on Thursday, Feb. 8, as the Windjammers posted a 50-40 win over Morse of Bath, while the Hawks fell to neighboring Islesboro 40-31 in a pair of home contests.

It was the second win in the final three games of the season for Camden Hills, though the Windjammers and Hawks, ultimately, came up short in their respective quests for the postseason.

The following is a recap of both contests:

Camden Hills 50, Morse 40

At Rockport Feb. 8, the Windjammers sailed past the Shipbuilders — as they netted their second win in their final three games — to wrap the regular season. Morse led 16-11 after the first quarter and 23-20 at halftime, while Camden Hills led 36-30 after three quarters.

Lauren Miller scored 15 points for the winners, while MiAe DeWaard added 13; Laticia Billings, seven; May Wiley, five; Miranda Dunton and Seanna Montgomery, three; and Nicole Brown and Kira Barley, two.

Kali Pierce scored nine points for Morse, while Emma Gould added eight; Sierra Wallace, five; Marija Medenica and Maisey True, four; Dory Kulis and Julia Goodard, three; and Abigail Carpenter, two.

The Windjammers were 22-of-37 (59 percent) from the foul line, while the Shipbuilders were 3-of-15 (20 percent).

Islesboro 40, North Haven 31

At North Haven Feb. 8, the Eagles netted a win over the Hawks to wrap the regular season for the island squads. North Haven led 10-7 after the first quarter, while the squads were tied 16-16 at halftime. Islesboro then took a 26-22 lead after three quarters.

KIesha Scott scored 26 points for Islesboro, while Emily Lau added 11 and Rylee Sienkiewicz four.

Mercedes Sparhawk scored 17 points for North Haven, while Sierra Koerber-Marx added eight and Layla Sparhawk six.

The Eagles were 7-of-11 (63 percent) from the foul line, while the Hawks were 3-of-4 (75 percent).
