Camden Hills Nordic skiers compete in Hornet Classic

Turner — The Camden Hills Nordic ski team participated in the Roy Varney Hornet Classic on Saturday, Jan. 11, as the Windjammers glided to middle-of-the-pack.

On the girls side, the Windjammers finished 14th among 20 high school teams, while on the boys side, the Windjammers finished 14th among 21 squads.

The Portland girls and Falmouth boys  collected team wins.

The girls team scores were: Portland 759, Mount Blue of Farmington 756, Deering of Portland 728, Central Maine Ski Club 707, Maranacook of Readfield 694, Leavitt of Turner 688, Freeport 684, Mount Ararat of Topsham 664, Waynflete of Portland 633, Greely of Cumberland 602, Falmouth 594, Winthrop 594, Orono 581, Camden Hills 522, Gould Academy of Bethel 490, Cheverus of Portland 329, Edward Little of Auburn 257, Mount Abram of Strong 154, Spruce Mountain of Jay 116 and Dirigo of Dixfield 114.

The boys team scores were: Falmouth 749, Central Maine Ski Club 742, Portland 722, Mount Blue 704, Edward Little 698, Freeport 693, Gould Academy 690, Maranacook 684, Leavitt 671, Mount Abram 660, Waynflete 575, Oxford Hills of South Paris 554, Orono 521, Camden Hills 521, Dirigo 507, Spruce Mountain 476, Greely 415, Cheverus 409, Deering 306, Brunswick 263 and St. Dominic of Auburn 162.

The individual Camden Hills girls results were: 73, Allie Gill, 24:57.6; 82, Alley Johnson, 25:38.4; 93, Katie Thorn, 27:14.1; 96, Shiyan Kesser, 28:19.2; 104, Chloe Cognard, 30:46; 105, Delia Cognard, 30:51.7; and 111, Abigail Harrison, 34:57.2.

The individual Camden Hills boys results were: 59, Ian Orsmond, 20:30.9; 67, Elias Porter, 21:45.5; 96, Wilson Gray, 23:02.5; 108, Samu VanLonkhuyzen, 24:15.6; and 133, John Pessara, 29:02.5.
