Camden Hills girls nearly perfect to start season on run

Windjammers have top three finishers, including winner Grace Iltis

Bangor — The Camden Hills girls cross-country team stormed into the new season by nearly recording a perfect score of 15 as the Windjammers had the top three finishers on Friday, Sept. 1 to earn a high school meet victory to start the fall campaign.

In races hosted by Bangor, the Windjammers grabbed the first three spots and had all five scoring runners among the top nine to secure a strong first-place finish. In fact, the Camden Hills girls had six runners among the top 10.

The Camden Hills girls were led by winner Grace Iltis in 19:54 over the 5-kilometer or 3.1-mile course, while Augusta Stockman was second at 20:48.29 and Miranda Dunton third at 21:09.27.

There were 58 finishers in the girls race.

The boys individual winner was Bangor's Gabe Coffey in 16:41.49, among 86 finishers.

The girls team scores were: Camden Hills 20, Brewer 49, Hampden Academy 78 and Bangor 83. The boys team scores were: Bangor 31, Hampden Academy 34, Brewer 59 and Camden Hills 109.
